Years before I heard rave reviews for FlyLady, I turned to The Clean Team to learn how to clean. For me it all started with the little book, Speed Cleaning. Now they have a wide variety of items available online, making it easy to learn how to clean efficiently and effectively.
A side benefit is that this system suggests that cleaning as a team of three is ideal. Each member of the team has one responsibility, either the kitchen, the bathrooms, or the dusting and floors. Currently, my oldest is trained in all three and is cleaning the bathrooms. She is also training her younger brother how to clean the bathrooms. That brother is currently cleaning the kitchen, can do the dusting and floors, and can't wait to get out of the kitchen and do the bathrooms. Youngest guy is with me, being trained to dust and clean the floors. If all goes well, I'll be strictly management soon.
We have been speed cleaning on Fridays for years. We think that cleaning fits with offering sacrifices on Fridays, abstaining from meat, and saying the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary. Bluegrass music helps us to clean more quickly. Using a timer helps us to stay on task. Planning a child-chosen family night gives us something to look forward to. On that note, I'm off to watch a movie with the family in our clean home. I'll enjoy this moment while it lasts.
Big and little ways our family builds unity, avoids or tackles common family challenges, and befriends uncertainty through trust in God and family. Family glue options and opportunities are everywhere! Look for, prioritize, foster, value, initiate, maximize, support, encourage, trust, and enjoy family glue as a means to love God and others wholeheartedly.
